    Introduction

    NSG Protection Services Inc. is committed to establishing and maintaining an incident-free work environment to protect our clients and employees. This begins with detailed planning for safe execution and benefiting from constructive dialogue with employees, clients and all parties involved in our work. An injury and accident-free workplace is our goal, and every reasonable precaution will be taken to protect our workers.
    Our safety culture is deeply routed in our overall business strategy and is our number one priority. Our managers are equipped with the training, experience, knowledge and authority to manage our projects safely. It is the responsibility of our managers to take all reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of the workers within their areas of operation and ensure that workers comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and associated regulations and guidelines.

    NSG Health and Safety Policy Statement

    It is the policy of NSG Protection Services Inc. to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its employees, and of those who could be affected by their undertaking. In accordance with requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other applicable legislation, the company will undertake the assessments and instigate reasonable and practical arrangements to ensure:

    • Places of work are maintained in a safe condition.

    • Working environments are safe and without risk to health.

    • Work equipment, tools and systems of work are safe and without risk to health.

    • Information, instruction, training and supervision are provided to ensure the health and safety of its employees and that of persons who may be affected by their work activities.

    Job Hazard Analysis and Working at Customer Premises

    It is the policy of NSG Protection Services Inc. to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its employees, and of those who could be affected by their undertaking. In accordance with requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other applicable legislation, the company will undertake the assessments and instigate reasonable and practical arrangements to ensure:

    Emergency Response and First Aid

    • Should an injury occur, it is essential that first aid be administered immediately followed by proper medical treatment if necessary.

    • Working environments are safe and without risk to health.

    • Determine the required response, such as rescue, firefighting, or evacuation.

    • First aid kits are available in all company installation and mobile vehicles and available at each workplace.

    • Transportation of an injured worker to a hospital, doctor’s office or worker’s home will be provided by a supervisor when necessary.

    Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

    Employees are required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) where it is not possible to reduce the risk by other means. Personal protective equipment is provided to protect against a specified risk free of charge. Employees are provided with personal protective equipment appropriate to the general hazards associated with their work activities such as high visibility clothing, waterproof jackets, helmets, protective eyewear, respiratory protection, hearing protection and hand protection. Additional PPE such as fall protection equipment is provided where a risk assessment shows it is necessary to reduce a specified risk to an acceptable level.

    Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy:

    Policy on the prevention of violence and harassment in the workplace

    1. PURPOSE
    • To promote respect for human dignity and protect the physical and psychological integrity of the employees.

    • To promote and maintain a violence- and harassment-free working environment for all employees.

    • To prevent all forms of violence and harassment, namely by raising awareness and providing information on the issue.

    • To provide the necessary support to any person or group who believes it is a victim of violence or harassment by establishing support and recourse mechanisms.

    NSG’s Workplace Violence and Harassment responsibilities

    NSG is of the opinion that all employees are entitled to a harassment- and violence-free working environment. Given this legal and moral responsibility, NSG is committed to:

    • Places of work are maintained in a safe condition.

    • Taking the necessary corrective measures, which may include dismissal, of those guilty of harassment or violence.

    • Sharing this policy with the employees as well as any information in its possession concerning harassment or violence in their work place.

    • Assisting employees who have been exposed to workplace harassment or violence.

    Security Officer and The Law

    As a security officer with the company, you may be required to perform a number of different functions during a tour of duty. These roles are outlined completely in the Site Post Orders or may be addressed by memo under separate cover or in a pass on book. It is therefore most important that all employees are aware and understand the law as it applies to security officers.

    Occurence Reports on Sites:-

    Daily Occurrence Report (DOR) –

    Used on all guard sites to report activities carried out by the officer on duty and to record all occurrences of a reportable nature.

    Special Occurrence Report (SOR) –

    Used to report a significant occurrence where the detail and/or length of the report is such that it could not be reported completely on a DOR

    General Responsibilities: -

    Security Guard are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all personnel and visitors. This includes monitoring premises, conducting regular patrols, and reporting any suspicious activities.

    Good Customer Service Skills: -

    Guards should possess strong customer service skills to interact effectively with individuals. De-escalation techniques should be employed to resolve conflicts peacefully and maintain a safe environment.

    Communication Protocols: - Maintain clear communication with other security personnel and
    management:-

    Use Cell Phone effectively and must be charged all the time. Report any issues or concerns immediately to the Supervisor via Call or WhatsApp Group. Participate in regular briefing and debriefings.

    Maintaining 6 ft Distance: -

    Security Guard should adhere to social distancing guidelines by always maintaining a minimum of 6 feet distance from individuals at all times. This help to ensure safety and security.

    Do Not Encounter Individuals: -

    Guard should avoid direct encounter with individuals unless necessary for safety reasons (medical distress etc.). Observing from a distance and using communication devices can help minimize direct interactions.

    Hands Off: -

    Security Guard are not authorized to make arrests or engage in physical altercations. The primary role is to observe, report, and deescalate situations when necessary.

    Emergency Contact Procedures: -

    In case of emergencies, guard should be prepared to contact the appropriate authorities:

    • Call 911 for immediate police, fire, or medical assistance.

    • Provide clear and concise information about the situation and location

    • Contact Dispatch and call Mobile Supervisor

    • Cooperate with emergency responders upon their arrival.

    Do Not Pick Needles: -

    Guards should never handle or pick up needles or any hazardous materials. If such items are found, they should be reported to the supervisor or the appropriateauthorities for proper disposal.

    Safety Check-Ins: -

    Guards are required to send safety check-ins every 30 minutes via WhatsApp or other designated communication channels. This helps to ensure your well-being and provides a record of your status during patrols.

    Professional Conduct: -

    Guards are expected to maintain a professional demeanour at all times:

    • Dress in the appropriate uniform and maintain personal hygiene.

    • Treat all individuals with respect and courtesy

    Safety Policy, Environmental Policy, PPE Policy, ad Safety Rules

    Ownership and Management are committed to the safety, health and welfare of its employees, customers and associates. In recognition of this, we will work toward:

    • The continued maintenance of safe working conditions through implementation, investigation and corrective action.

    • Constant adherence to proper operating practices, legislated requirements, Provincial and Federal laws and regulations.

    • Use of procedures and training to ensure the safety of our employees and the public. People at all levels within the organization shall apply sound safety management techniques when planning, implementing and reviewing their operations. Objectives include.

    • Ownership will ensure that adequate arrangements are made to maintain a written health and safety policy and to provide appropriate financial and physical resources for its continued implementation.

    • The company Health and Safety experts will provide advice to all levels and will be responsible for regularly reviewing health and safety performance.

    • All Managers and Supervisors will plan, coordinate and monitor the overall Occupational Health and Safety components in order to meet legislative and regulatory requirements. Further, they will:

    • Ensure workers are aware of their responsibilities to support the Health & Safety program, making health and safety a part of their daily routine and ensure that they are following safe work methods and procedures reporting all unsafe or unhealthy conditions.

    • Ensure sub-contractors and their workers are aware of their responsibilities to meet or exceed Health and Safety requirements.

    NSG Protection Services reminds all employees that they have a personal responsibility for their own health and safety and that of other people who may be affected by the work that they do. They must therefore adhere to the safe working practices detailed in the Health and Safety manual, and cooperate fully with their managers on any matter relating to Health and Safety.

    Ground for dismissal

    The following are prohibited at all times on all company property and at all client sites:Possession, consumption or being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. Arriving for work or remaining at work when ability to perform your duties safely is impaired. Possession of firearms, fighting, horseplay, practical jokes, misbehaving, theft, vandalism.Damaging, disabling or interfering with safety, fire or first aid equipment.

    Emergency Procedures

    In all cases of emergency your first and immediate action must be to call for professional, qualified assistance (fire, ambulance and police) before rendering assistance, in accordance with client’s standing orders.

    First Aid Treatment

    All security officers are encouraged (and required by specific contracts) to take a First Aid course and CPR(various levels). Regardless of qualification the following rules shall apply when carrying out first aid

    • If the casualty is conscious ask them if you can help. A “yes” or a nod of the head is acceptable legal consent.

    • ALWAYS send for competent medical help (ambulance).

    • Ensure the injured person is kept warm and as comfortable as possible.

    • Take control of onlookers – delegate tasks to them where needed.

    • Give no liquids to drink. If the person complains of thirst moisten their lips with a cloth.

    • Provide reassurance.

    • Do not attempt to move the injured person.

    • Whether trained in first aid or not a security officer is the only “in between” until regular emergencies. Refer to your client’s specific instructions for further details.

    Bomb Threats

    Bomb threats do occur. During the course of your duty, security officers may be the receiver of a bomb threat by phone or in writing. All security officers must be aware of the procedures in the handling of such an instance.

    • If a written threat is received: Save all material including the envelope, container, letter or note, etc. Do everything possible to preserve fingerprints, paper and postmarks.

    • If a telephone request is received: Record the call if possible. Keep the caller talking in order to receive as much information as possible.

    • Try and learn the time of detonation, type of device, explosive used and location.

    • Inform the caller that there are people in the building/site. If (s)he argues, then they may know the building/site is empty. Inform them that there is a special meeting taking place. This may prompt the caller to reveal more information.

    • Note background noises (machines highway traffic, music, etc) and voice qualities (male or female, loud, soft, deep high, accent, calm, excited, etc)

    • Try to write as much as possible while taking the call.

    • Report the threat immediately to applicable authorities such as the police, fire and bomb squad, etc.

    • Don’t take it lightly, any bomb threat is serious.

    • Getting as much information as possible not only helps the security department learn about the bomb but it will also help determine the next course of action. Generally speaking, the more information received, the easier the job of the searchers and police officials.

    • Be aware of the client’s bomb threat procedures and expectations

    Communication

    As a security officer you will have opportunities to utilize telephones, cellular phones and radios during the course of your duties. Proper etiquette when using this equipment is essential to ensure professionalism and your safety.

I consent to the necessary background checks, training, and health assessments as part of my employment. I also understand that failure to adhere to these policies and procedures may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of my employment.
